Community and Affordable Housing (These units are managed under Drumheller Housing Administration)

 

Drumheller Housing Administration (DHA) is a body created by ministerial order to provide management of local subsidized housing options available in Drumheller.

 

Drumheller Housing has a full contract management staff to efficiently and effectively manage these properties and seek a community of safe housing for those in need.

 

WHAT IS IT?

 

Drumheller Housing Administration follows the Social Housing Accommodation Regulation (SHAR) which establishes the rules for accessing affordable housing.

 

Subsidized housing includes a variety of programs in which rent is either set as a percentage of your income or at a low, fixed rate.

 

The Drumheller Housing Administration waitlist is not a numbered, first-come-first-served system.

There is only one waitlist for all DHA subsidized rental programs and all applications are prioritized in accordance with Social Housing Accommodation Regulations (SHAR).

Applications are assessed individually and housing is based on availability, priority and time on waitlist.

Applications are prioritized on the basis of need as determined by source and amount of income, assets, number of dependents, current housing conditions and special circumstances.

Priority on the waitlist can change on a daily basis based on the number of applicants that have a greater or lesser need.

We are unable to tell you when a unit may be offered to you.

DHA first offers assistance to those who are considered the most in need, provided suitable accommodation is available. When a unit becomes available, our leasing department immediately fills that unit with the next applicant whose individual situation is the highest priority and meets the qualifications for that unit.

 

WHO QUALIFIES/ELIGIBILITY?

 

Applicants must meet the core need and citizenship requirements;

Priority for assistance will be based on assisting those in greatest need first.

Bring in proof of income, your rental agreement, Notice of Assessment and photo identification.
